All new beekeepers are advised to attend an introductory beekeeping course and experience a hive being inspected before they get their own bees. Beekeeping is a rewarding hobby but also a challenging one. The more knowledge and skills that you have the greater the chances your beekeeping will be successful and enjoyable.
Prospective beekeepers could get a head start with a bit of reading. There are many good books such as The BBKA Guide to Beekeeping, Second Edition by Davis, I. & Cullum-Kenyon, R.
